The legendary hard rock band Guns n' Roses has sold over 100 million records worldwide and is still one of the most successful bands in the world. In the mid-1980s, a new music group formed in Los Angeles from the bands "Hollywood Rose" and the "L.A. Guns". After a debut EP and a first LP, the Guns n' Roses took off in 1988 with their record "Appetite For Destruction". The album, as well as the single "Sweet Child o' Mine," placed at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard charts. The Guns n' Roses raised their profile as hard rockers in the late 1980s as well as in the early 1990s due to several scandals in the form of drug abuse and violent clashes within the band. In 1991, the double album "Use Your Illusion I" and "Use Your Illusion II" was released. Both records climbed the top two spots on the album charts, with single singles such as "You Could Be Mine," "November Rain" and "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" reaching the top ten for Guns n' Roses. The albums were followed by a 24-month tour around the globe. In the mid-1990s it became quieter around the Guns n' Roses, the individual members focused more intensively on solo projects. Personnel changes and a lack of musical input intensified the upheaval of the previously successful hard rock band. After canceled concerts, rumors circulated among fans about a breakup, against which founding member Axl Rose vehemently resisted. In the 2000s, there were sporadic concerts and festival appearances. It was not until 2008 that Guns n' Roses released their sixth album, Chinese Democracy, after their last compilation record, 1993's The Spaghetti Incident. In 2016, the great comeback of singer Axl Rose and his former colleagues Slash and Duff McKagan occurred.
