Since their formation in 2004, the band from Sheffield has undergone an astonishing change in style. While Bring Me The Horizon's sound was initially influenced solely by deathcore, Oliver “Oli” Sykes, Lee Malia, Curtis Ward, Matt Kean and Matt Nicholls have increasingly turned to the pop genre over time. This stylistic change is also evident in the British band's releases. With their first EP, This Is What The Edge Of Your Seat Was Made For, and their debut album, Count Your Blessings, released in 2006, Bring Me The Horizon still delivered a genuine metalcore sound. However, their next album, There Is A Hell, Believe Me I've Seen It. There Is A Heaven, Let's Keep It A Secret, released in 2010, was characterised by electronic sounds. Although Bring Me The Horizon lost some of their fans as a result, they also gained new ones. In any case, the band's concept was extremely successful. The studio album Sempiternal, which followed in 2013, shot to number 3 in the British charts. Bring Me The Horizon revealed a more pop-oriented side in That's The Spirit and Amo, the latter catapulting the British band to the top of the charts. Their seventh album, Post Human: Nex Gen, was released in 2024. Bring Me The Horizon's willingness to experiment with different influences makes them one of the most exciting bands of our time.
