In 1994, Brian Molko and Stefan Olsdal met by chance at South Kensington Underground station in London. Although they knew each other from the school they had both attended in Luxembourg, they had had little contact there. After Stefan attended one of Brian’s gigs at his invitation, he enthusiastically joined his band. Together with Robert Schultzberg, their first performance under the name Placebo followed in 1995, and in the same year the band signed their first record deal. In 1996, following a change of label, their first single “Come Home” was released. None other than David Bowie took notice of Placebo and took them on tour even before the release of their debut album. Shortly afterwards, their first studio album, ‘Placebo’, was released, achieving gold status in the UK, whilst the single ‘Nancy Boy’ became a hit. With ‘Every You Every Me’ from their second album, ‘Without You I'm Nothing’, Placebo produced their most successful track to date. But the British rock band also achieved gold and platinum status with every subsequent album.
