Sido first came to wider attention in 2004 with "Mein Block". Since then, the Berliner has established himself alongside Bushido as one of the best-known representatives of ghetto rap. His lyrics were provocative, aggressive and often characterised by misogyny, drugs, prison and violence. The musician, who was born in 1980, made the headlines not only for his songs, but also for his physical altercations and boorish behaviour.
Sido's trademark was initially a skull mask, which he wore at performances. Even though the rapper took off the mask over the course of his career, he is still known today as the rapper with the mask. With albums such as "Ich und meine Maske", "30-11-80" and "Ich und keine Maske", the Berlin native reached the top of the charts. Musically, Sido has reorientated himself since 2010, which is particularly evident on a lyrical level. The best-known example of this is the track "Bilder im Kopf", for which Sido was awarded platinum.
