James Newell Osterberg Jr. aka Iggy Pop grew up in Detroit and was influenced by rock and blues music from an early age. In the 1960s, the musician founded the band ‘The Stooges’. With their experimental mix of garage rock and blues as well as the energy of the emerging punk rock, the group became one of the most influential in music history. After the band broke up, Iggy Pop collaborated with none other than David Bowie. Their partnership resulted in the two albums ‘The Idiot’ and ‘Lust for Life’ in 1977, which laid the foundation for Iggy's solo career. In the 1980s, the singer finally achieved icon status. In a career that has now spanned more than 50 years, Iggy Pop has not only left his mark on rock music, but also on pop culture.
