Founded in 1945 by EMI producer Walter Legge, the Philharmonia Orchestra is one of the most recorded orchestras in the world, with over 1,000 releases to its name. The orchestra gives more than 160 concerts a year and has commissioned more than 100 new compositions throughout its history. Its roster of past collaborators includes Herbert von Karajan, Otto Klemperer, Wilhelm Furtwängler, Arturo Toscanini and Riccardo Muti.
